Minister of Labor Calls for Businesses to Hire More Persons with Disabilities

PHNOM PENH: Minister of Labor Heng Sour said that the Ministry will work with relevant partners to encourage businesses to have at least 3% of their total staff made up of persons with disabilities.

The Labor Minister attended a discussion on a project to support disabled job seekers at the Hyatt on December 11, where he pledged to work with companies, factories, and enterprises to create flexibility in the workforce to benefit persons with disabilities. He suggested certain skills like answering phones and other minimal labor positions that could enable persons with disabilities to find decent work and lead better lives.

He urged persons with disabilities to review the professional skills that the government is providing in a new program to help poor and vulnerable people so that they can broaden their skillset and knowledge to apply for more opportunities.

Minister Heng Sour encouraged persons with disabilities not to despair, to overcome their difficulties, and to join the government in building a society that is socially and economically inclusive.
